Katherine Brandtjen Hometown: Farmington, MN Major: Physics / German
Honors College advantages: Honors College is the way to get the most out of your education. Through the Honors College Ive met most of my friends, met some of the most dedicated professors, and had opportunities that I just would not have had otherwise. Honors classes are smaller and are generally more discussion-based, so you can really dig into the material.
More than hitting the books: If youre an Honors student, the Honors College Student Organization is the place to be. Its the social side of the College. We meet bi-weekly, participate in campus events, hold social events, do community service projects, attend regional and national conferences, and give presentations.
Cool project: Katherine traveled to Mull, Scotland, for an Honors colloquium. For her term project she chose to study wind power. I explored the use of wind energy in the Midwest and used that information to analyze the current wind farm proposal for Mull.
Other activities: President of Honors College Student Organization, SDSU Civic Symphony (plays oboe), concert band, vice president of the Society of Physics Students, Ceres Women's Fraternity , Students Association Vice President, and study abroad peer mentor. |
