OTHER LOAN PROGRAMS

Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) may be available for parents of dependent students. Parents can apply for a PLUS Loan from any lender (and guaranty agency) that participates in the Federal PLUS program. General information on the PLUS is at

http://www2.eac-easci.org/borrower/PLUS.shtmlClick to view SDSU's Hyperlink Policy

Federal PLUS processing information is available at www.sdstate.eduClick to view SDSU's Hyperlink Policy (Search: PLUS). A parent may call 1-800-458-4011 (EASCI - South Dakota) or go online at www.eac-easci.org/knownowClick to view SDSU's Hyperlink Policy for PLUS pre-approval.

New PLUS borrowers must also complete a Federal PLUS Master Promissory Note (MPN). Your lender’s guarantee agency will send information to you on how to complete an MPN, if it is needed. Additional information available for parents is at Parents Page.

Alternative Loans (non-federal) are offered by some regional lenders or state governments. Information on the private loans is available at alternative loan. The alternative loans should be considered only if the student has used the maximum eligibility through the federal student loan programs. Alternative loan applications are available from the SDSU Financial Aid Office, SDSU webpage, or from participating financial institutions. Most alternative loans require a co-signer.
