Miscellaneous eligibility policies are processing changes to the general eligibility criteria.
Consortium/contractual agreements specific forms coordinated with the SDSU Financial Aid Office through another higher education accredited institutions financial aid office to allow academic enrollment status for determining eligibility for federal financial aid.
Correspondence courses provided by the South Dakota public universities may be used only if the course is term based and the first lesson is completed. Students should contact the SDSU Financial Aid Office about eligibility.
Outside scholarship policy students need to notify the SDSU Financial Aid Office of the name/amount/terms of the scholarship awards. Also, it is preferred the non-SDSU scholarships be made payable to SDSU and listing the students name and address. Non-SDSU scholarships under $1,000 are paid in full in one semester unless requested otherwise.
Overawards students are responsible to notify the SDSU Financial Aid Office of any non-SDSU financial aid awards. If the additional awards exceed the students financial need (eligibility), adjustments to the applicable federal financial aid will be made by the SDSU Financial Aid Office.
Professional judgment a Change of Income Form or a Special Circumstances Form available from the SDSU Financial Aid Office (www.sdstate.edu) may be completed by the student (or dependent parents) to provide additional information that may be used to replace other information (typically income) used to calculate financial aid eligibility. Additional information may be requested by phone, email, or office visit to help evaluate any possible changes. The SDSU Financial Aid Office will notify the student regarding if adjustments were made or not made.
