SMART Grant

National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grants

Effective July 1, 2006, students may receive $4,000 per year to pay for higher education, if the student majors in mathematics, science, or a critical foreign language.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • U.S.  Citizen

  • Pell Grant recipient for same payment period

  • Be a third (64-95 credits) or fourth (96+ credits) year student in a four year bachelors degree program

  • Full-time enrollment in an eligible major (More Below)

  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

Qualifying Major Fields of Study:

  • Computer Science

  • Engineering

  • Technology

  • Life Science

  • Mathematics

  • Physical Sciences

  • Designated Critical Foreign Languages*
