Cost of Attendance The "cost of attendance" for determining financial aid eligibility includes allowances for books, supplies, room and board, travel, and personal expenses. Students who have childcare costs and/or other unusual expenses should contact the SDSU Financial Aid Office.

| South Dakota Residency Requirements
| In order to establish residency for tuition purposes, you must live in South Dakota for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the first scheduled day of classes of the semeseter.
Attendance at a college, university, or other institution of higher education does not count in determining the 12-month residency period.
|

| Child of Alumni
| If your parent graduated from one of the six public universities in South Dakota you can receive a reduced tuition rate under the new Child of Alumni Program. Students pay the tuition rate listed above.
|
|
| Iowa and Nebraska Residents
| All new Iowa and Nebraska students who attend SDSU or another South Dakota Board of Regents institution for the first time beginning Summer 2006 session or later are eligible for the non-resident tuition rate listed above.
Students who enrolled at SDSU from another South Dakota Board of Regents institution prior to Summer 2006 will pay the corresponding rate of tuition based on what term they first enrolled.
