This list of scholarships does NOT include all scholarships available at SDSU. You will want to check with your college and major department for other opportunities.

PLEASE NOTE: This list provides only general criteria. For more detailed information you will want to read closely the individual applications and verify information.

In many instances, but not all, the scholarship applications are specified to be picked up at SDSU Financial Aid Office, Administration Building, 106.


CURRENT SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Tylenol Scholarship

Deadline: May 15, 2008
Eligibility:
1) Student must attend an accredited post-secondary school in the Fall of 2008 and be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate course of study in a health-related field. 
2) Applicant must complete the application in its entirety by the deadline.
3) All applications will first be screened on the basis of leadership responsibilities in community activities and school activities and on grade point average.
4) Recipients will be selected on the basis of the number, length of commitment, and quality of leadership responsibilities in community activities and school activities, awards and honors (40%), a clear statement of education and career goals (10%), and academic record (50%).

Eligibility:
1) Applicant must have completed at least two semesters of course work at any accredited post-secondary school in South Dakota.
Applicant or family must be member of a South Dakota telephone cooperative or local affiliate.
The SDATC Memorial Scholarship can be used at any post-secondary educational institution in South Dakota including public/private universities, technical schools or community colleges.

Eligibility:
1) Applicant must have completed at least two semesters of course work at any accredited post-secondary school in South Dakota.
Applicant or family must be member of a South Dakota telephone cooperative or local affiliate.
Preference will be given to applicants with majors that are applicable to today’s communication industry.  These include but are not limited to the following:  Engineering (Computer Science or Systems, Electrical, CAD, Software, Industrial, Communications Systems, Network Security); business (Economics, Marketing, Human Resource, Accounting, Management, Communications, Business Law); Technologies (Communications Systems Engineering Technologies, Computer Programming, Computer Software Specialist, Computer Systems or Software Satellite Communications, Utilities Technologies, Network Technician); Computers (Internet Apps Developer, Laser/Electro-Optics, Marketing, Network Administration, System Administrator, Computer Applications); Technology Education; and communication Arts (Graphic or Mass Communications, Commercial Arts, Multimedia/Web Development.)

National Poultry & Food Distributors Association

Deadline: May 31, 2008
Eligibility:
1) Students must be in their Junior or Senior (college) year when they receive the scholarship-therefore may be a sophomore when applying
2) Applicants must be enrolled as a full time student in a US University/College
3) Food science, Dietetics, Poultry Science, Ag Econ, etc.
4) Provide current official transcript
5) Provide a letter of recommendation from the Dean
6) Completed application
7) One-page letter describing goals and aspirations

Deadline: June 15, 2008
Eligibility:
1) Any undergraduate or graduate student in good standing who is currently enrolled in a degree program which offers course work in Risk Management, Insurance, Occupational Safety, or similar studies.

The Fund for Veterans Education

Deadline: June 15, 2008
Eligibility:
1) Be veterans of any branch of the Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air force, Marines), Coast Guard, National Guard and Armed Forces Reserves.
Have served and been deployed for at least 60 days in Afghanistan or Iraq after September 11, 2001, or be veterans who were deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq after September 11, 2001, but did not meet the 60-day active service period as a result of a service-related injury or condition incurred while serving in Afghanistan or Iraq.
Be enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis in an undergraduate program of study at any accredited two-year or four-year institution, public or private, including technical schools for the Fall 2008 term
Have applied for and accepted all federal, state and institutional need-based grants and all available military educational benefits. 
 
Big Sun Scholarship

Eligibility:
1) Please send us a short (500 words or less) essay describing why you should be the winner of this award.            
2) All student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport they are engaged in. The student must be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute.

“Spirit of Sioux Falls” Scholarship

Deadline: July 1, 2008
Eligibility:
1) be pursuing a degree in business, and
2) be continuing their education in a four-year college/university program and have completed at least one year of post-secondary education, or
3) be continuing at a vocation/technical institute or a community college in a two year program and have completed at least one semester, or
4) be presently enrolled at a vocations/technical institute or community college in a two year program and have completed at least one year at the institute or community college and have definite plans to continue at a four-year college or university, or
5) be enrolled full-time in a graduate program.
6) demonstrate academic excellence and community involvement.
7) have the recommendation or a department head, professor, or advisor and a volunteer agency director or employer, and
8) demonstrate their understanding of the role of business in American society.

2) Certificate of Indian Blood showing ¼ Indian blood

7) Most Recent Transcript
8) Class Schedule will be required prior to disbursement

Hovland Scholarship

1) Applicant must at least have a 2.0 GPA.
2) Applicant must be enrolled in a state (public or private not-for profit) college, university, and vocational or technical school.
3) Applicant must be of Norwegian Descent.
4) Applicant must have the need for financial aid.
5) Official transcripts are required.

The Lost Boys of Sudan Scholarship for Higher Education

Deadline: July 15, 2008
Eligibility:
1) Be one of the Lost Boys of Sudan
2) Have resided in Sioux Falls for a minimum of two years
3) Have completed one year at a four-year college or university
4) Have a GPA of at least 2.3
5) Plan to continue their education at a four-year college or university
6) Demonstrate financial need
7) Demonstrate involvement in the lives of others in the community
8) Demonstrate the desire and ability to pursue higher education

Pacific West Cancer Fund
