Campus Kudos
The SDSU family congratulates the following people for their outstanding contributions on and off campus:
Retirement reception for Lona Faaborg
Tompkins Alumni Center will host a retirement reception for Lona Faaborg Feb. 26 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Faaborg has been with SDSU since July 1972. Her current position is accounting analyst which she received after many promotions.
Faaborg started in the accounting office as a bookkeeper and has worn many different hats at SDSUall within the finance/budget area. Her new career will be in the business office for a small manufacturing company in Elkton.
For more information, contact Ginger Moeller, 688-5506.
Recital includes work of contemporary composers
Aaron Ragsdale, percussion instructor in the Music Department, will present a faculty recital of contemporary solo percussion works tonight, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Peterson Recital Hall at the Lincoln Music Center. The recital is free and open to the public.
The program features music by living composers written expressly for percussion instruments, including the marimba, snare drum, and vibraphone.
The program will include performances of Japanese composer Yasuo Sueyoshis Mirage pour Marimba and American composer Gordon Stouts Rumble Strips on the marimba as well as Icelandic composer Askell Mássons Prím for solo snare drum.
Perhaps the most unusual composition presented is American composer Donald Knaack's for John Cage, a series of pieces for prepared vibraphone. The compositions require the performer to alter the timbre of the vibraphone by adding additional material, including sleighbells, paper, wood, and metal washers, to each key.
German composer Eckard Kopetzkis Night of Moon Dances for marimba soloist and percussion quartet will conclude the recital.
Ragsdale will be assisted by SDSU percussion ensemble members Amanda Bonander, Valley Springs; Dan Lee, Sioux Falls; Drew Manzer, Brookings; and Dallas Tucker. Madison.
Aaron Ragsdales recital includes work by contemporary percussionists.

Dietitians spread facts about nutrition during March
March is National Nutrition Month and the American Dietetics Association has declared March 10 as the first national Dietitians Day. Each year, the second Monday of March is designated as Registered Dietitian Day.
Registered Dietitian Day was created to increase awareness of registered dietitians as indispensable providers of food and nutrition services and to recognize their commitment to helping people enjoy healthy lives.
The American Dietetics Association and registered dietitians are some of the most valuable and credible sources of timely, scientifically-based food and nutrition information.
The American Dietetic Association promotes optimal nutrition and well being for all people by advocating for its members. With more than 67,000 members, ADA is the world's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. The majority of ADA's members are registered dietitians and dietetic technicians.
For more information, contact Kendra Kattelmann, 688-4045.
During National Nutrition Month®, the American Dietetic Association urges consumers to look beyond the myths of nutrition, focus on the facts and remember the theme for the month, Nutrition: Its a Matter of Fact.
