The cornerstone for the $100,000 Administration Building was laid on Aug. 23, 1912, but construction for the multi-purpose building did not go as planned. State appropriations allowed completion of only the middle and south wings. The north wing was added in 1918 after Extension was placed on railroad tracks and moved east 50 yards. Aside from classrooms, laboratories and offices, the brick building housed a model drug store, a greenhouse, and what is now the Doner Auditorium.

Neo-Classical architectural style with some Beaux Arts influence is evident in the symmetrical composition, the use of columns and classical detailing, the variety of stone finishes, and the decorative motifs. The classically inspired front entrance framed by Ionic order columns and topped with a central decorative motif is striking architecturally.
