The South Dakota Council on World Affairs is one of 86 councils nationwide affiliated with the World Affairs Councils of America.

SDCWA is formed exclusively for educational purposes and specifically for the purpose of providing information on world affairs to the citizens of South Dakota and the region.

SDCWA seeks to stimulate interest in and promote discussion of international relations, world cultures, and U.S. foreign policy.

SDCWA takes no stand on current issues.

Upcoming Events

May 5: Dr. Anar Hatamov
Dr. Hatamov will speak about his country, Azerbaijan.
Brookings Public Library, Cooper Room B, 12:00 noon
Participants can bring a sack lunch. Coffee and tea will be provided.

June 12: Annual meeting of the South Dakota Council on World Affairs
5:00 P.M. – South Dakota Art Museum Multipurpose Room
5:30 P.M. – Reception with food
7:00 P.M. – Lecture - South Dakota Art Museum Auditorium
Lincoln McCurdy, President of the Turkish Coalition of America, will talk about the current state of affairs between Turkey and the United States. The lecture is free and open to the public.
