Career Service Advisory Council

Welcome to the Career Service Advisory Council. The council members work hard all year planning special events, monitoring issues that affect you as career service employees and act as a liaison between the employees and the administration.
Career Service Advisory Council Members

What is the Career Service Advisory Council (CSAC)?

It is a group of employees elected by their peers, acting in an advisory capacity, providing a communications link between Career Service employees and the President and Administration. Each state institution under the auspices of the Board of Regents has a CSAC.
The purpose of the CSAC as SDSU is to discuss and make recommendations to the President on the conditions of our employment, our fringe benefits and other policies; to discuss issues and to offer the administration the opportunity to explain and interpret rules, regulations and government policies which have impact on Career Service employees. The Council does not have bargaining power, but they do have the power to assist employees in finding solutions to individual problems by directing staff to the proper channels. If the problems are of vital concern to all Career Service staff, more direct methods may be initiated to solve the problem with those results being positive for both the employees and the administration.
The CSAC represents approximately 640 career service employees which are divided into six categories: Administrative and Clerical, Agriculture Services/Nutrition/4-H Services, Custodial Services, Maintenance and Security, Medical and Technical Services. Each category has relative representation on the CSAC.
In addition to fostering communications, the CSAC hosts bi-annual meetings for all Career Service employees, presents the Employee of the Month awards, serves on the University Cabinet and Public Relations Liaison Committees, and coordinates other employee activities throughout the year.
The CSAC holds monthly meetings, which are open to all employees. Feel free to visit our meetings and find out what the Council is all about. We encourage everyone to become involved. Your opinions, suggestions and comments are valuable regardless of how long you've been at SDSU.
The Career Service employees play a vital role in the mission of SDSU. Listed below are the current members of the CSAC. They stand ready to work for you. Contact them with any questions or concerns you might have.
