Received his B.A. in Education from Hiram Scott College, M. A. in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Toledo, and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of South Dakota.
Dr. Scully has been a presenter and speaker at regional, state, and national administrator and teacher conferences. He was a doctoral intern in Washington, D.C for the Elementary, Kindergarten, Nursery, Educators, and served as the Asst. Regional Training Officer for Head Start in Northwest Ohio.
Presently, he is the coordinator for the Educational Leadership, Adult & Higher Education, and Career & Technical Programs for the West River Graduate Center in Rapid City. Dr. Scully also coordinates the SDSU EDAD program in Gillette, Wyoming. He is the advisor to all the EDAD & AHED students, supervises all the Interns, teaches the Capstone classes in Rapid and Gillette, teaches an on-line class, supervises and evaluates the faculty in Rapid and Gillette, and does the recruiting for the Graduate Center. Dr. Scully is also activity involved with various academic committees at the SDSU main campus and civic organizations in the Rapid City community.
He presently teaches School Law, Principalship, Curriculum, and Informational Literacy. His research interests are in the areas of technology and student learning, school culture and climate, and effective leadership.
His education background spans over thirty-eight years. Dr. Scully has been a teacher from preschool to junior high, an elementary, middle, and junior high principal, a school superintendent, and an educational consultant.
He has been married to his college sweetheart for thirty-seven years; has three sons, and three Siberian Huskies. For the past seven years, Dr. Scully has been a member of a Southern Gospel men’s quartet. They have performing in a seven state regional area. Presently, they have four CDs out and are in the process of working on their fifth. He enjoys hunting, fishing, bowling, and softball (yes, even at 64, that is why he is at the YMCA every morning).
