3. How and for what can I use WebAdvisor?
To use WebAdvisor, go to https://wa-sdsu.state.sd.us/webadvisor/. The first time you log in, Select WebAdvisor for Students/Im New to WebAdvisor. Follow the prompts to access your User ID and to have a temporary password emailed to you.
Registration: When registering for courses on WebAdvisor, you will first put courses on a Preferred List. Registration is completed from the Preferred List. The presence of a course on your preferred list does not in any way guarantee registration in the course.
Enrollment Verifications: Click on Enrollment Verification Request; then click on the National Student Clearinghouse link and follow the prompts. Print out and mail your enrollment verification. This is an official verification and does not require an SDSU seal or signature.
Payment: You can pay for tuition & fees via the SDePay link on WebAdvisor. Payment made by Check or Cash can be made by mail on in person to the Cashiers Office, SAD 301, Box 2201 SDSU, Brookings, SD 57007. For more information, see studentbill.sdstate.edu.
Grades: To see a complete listing of your courses and grades, click Course Listing and then select the appropriate Transcript Grouping. Most graduate students should select SGR (SDSU Graduate). To see undergraduate courses, select SUG (SDSU Undergraduate). You can view grades by term by selecting Grades.
4. What are my privacy rights?
FERPA is The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Under the terms of FERPA, South Dakota State University has established the following items as Directory Information, which may be released to those requesting it, unless the student specifically requests otherwise by submitting written notification to the Office of the Registrar.
Directory Information
- Students Name
- Students Gender
- Address (local, family, permanent)
- Student's Email Address
- Telephone Number (local, family, permanent)
- Student's Class Level
- Name & Address of Emergency Contact
- Date & Place of Birth
- Major Program of Study
- Minor Program of Study
- Dates of Attendance
- Current & Past course registration(s) (courses only, not schedule)
- Degrees & Awards received
- All previous educational institutions attended
- Participation in officially recognized activities and sports
- Weight and height of athletic team members
- Photographs
All other information may not be released without written consent of the student. Grades, social security numbers, & student schedules may not be released to anyone other than the student and never over the phone.
Please Note: Students are given the opportunity to restrict Directory Information. If the student restricts the release of Directory Information, no information can be released on that student without written permission of the student. A list of these students will be emailed to faculty/staff. The appropriate faculty/staff response is, I am sorry; there is no information available on that person.

5. I'm a Teaching Assistant; how do I access my class roster on-line?
Go to https://wa-sdsu.state.sd.us/webadvisor/ You can then access your class roster by selecting WebAdvisor for Faculty/ Class Roster. You will assign grades via WebAdvisor/Grading. If you have further questions, please contact Records and Registration at:
