SDSU Types of Grades
pdf (83k)

Types of Grades are also found on page 19 of the 2007-2008 Undergraduate Bulletin.

2.  What do the different grading codes mean for dissertation, thesis, research and design papers at SDSU?

Graduate students usually register for dissertation, thesis, or research design paper credit during several semesters. An “in progress” (IP) grade is normally given until satisfactory completion of the dissertation, thesis, research, or design paper and the final oral examination. The advisor, upon satisfactory completion of these credits and final oral, will then assign a satisfactory grade (S) for all dissertation, thesis, research or design papers and sustaining credits by notifying the Registrar through the “Change of Grade” form. If not satisfactory, a grade of unsatisfactory (U) is given.
