with Tuition Table

Student federal financial assistance programs are administered through the Financial Aid Office in the Administration Building, room 106.

FAQs

1.  What kind of financial aid can I obtain?

As a graduate student, you are eligible for up to $8,500 in subsidized and $12,000 in unsubsidized Stafford Loans for a total of up to $20,500.

2.  Are graduate students eligible for Pell grants?

No, graduate students are not eligible for Pell grants. The Federal Pell Grant is funded only for financially eligible undergraduate students as determined by the Free Application For Student Aid (FAFSA) and who have not completed a Bachelor's or professional degree.

3.  What is the difference between a subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford Loan?

If you have a subsidized Stafford loan, the federal government pays the interest for you while you are in school and up to six months after you cease to be at least a half time student.  With an unsubsidized Stafford loan, interest is not paid by the Federal Government and accrues while you are in school.

4.  Are there requirements for getting Stafford loans?

A graduate student must be taking at least 5 credits per semester to be eligible for Federal Stafford loans and to have prior student loans deferred.  If you are not taking at least 5 credits, you may fill out a load certification form to certify your academic related workload, assistantships and/or thesis/dissertation work which can then be taken into account in addition to your credits.  Contact the Graduate School Office (SAD 130, x4181) about getting a load certification form.
