Welcome to South Dakota State University!

Graduate enrollment at SDSU has shown significant growth over the past few years both in total numbers and distribution among programs. Along with our established Ph.D. programs in Agronomy, Animal Science, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Nursing, and Sociology, SDSU now offers Ph.D. degrees in Computational Science & Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Geospatial Science & Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Wildlife &  Fisheries Sciences

SDSU has more than thirty Masters programs representing disciplines in agriculture, biology, engineering, humanities, health sciences, education, natural sciences and social sciences which are designed to meet contemporary needs; graduate program development has been carefully planned to meet the needs of students and to play a key role in economic development and stewardship of natural resources in South Dakota.

The recent addition of many research-oriented faculty has strengthened our programs by providing opportunities for graduate student research and related creative activities. Faculty success in acquiring extramural funding to provide support for research and scholarly activities has enhanced opportunities for graduate study throughout the university.

Festival of CulturesFestival of Cultures

The Festival of Cultures has grown from an event held in the original Volstorff Ballroom upstairs in the union to one requiring the square footage of the HPER Center. Since its beginning in 1981 as International Day, the Festival continues to grow. Now sponsored and organized by the International Relations Club and the SDSU Office for Diversity Enhancement, the Festival of Cultures involves people from across campus along with those from surrounding communities.

Click on the link below to learn what people had to say about this year's Festival of Cultures.
