Summer 2008 - IMPORTANT DATES FOR GRADUATION CANDIDATES
(For other dates, see the Summer 2008 Schedule Book)

June 12

Last day to submit a graduation application for summer 2008. Please submit this form only if you are reasonably sure that you will graduate summer semester. If the degree is not granted this summer, a new graduation application is needed for the new, upcoming semester.  NOTE: a faxed copy will be accepted as original providing all necessary signatures have been obtained before faxing the form to us.

NOTE: Since there is no summer commencement ceremony, these candidates will be invited back for the Fall 2008 ceremony and their names will appear in the Fall Commencement Exercises program. Information regarding fall commencement will be sent from Records in November or December.

SPECIALIZATIONS: Remember to enter the specialization (or emphasis) on the application.

June 27

Format Check Date for Thesis/Dissertation to be submitted to the Graduate School.  (Design/Research Paper to department for checking.)  NOTE: Whenever possible, the format check should be done prior to the paper going to the committee.

July 18

Last day to take the Oral Exam.  Paperwork to schedule the exam must reach the Graduate
School Office at least TEN WORKING DAYS prior to the exam date selected.  This allows the Graduate School enough time to check the file and point out any problem areas as well as to get
the paperwork to the student and each committee member prior to the exam.

Master’s Students: Please use ORAL EXAMINATION FORM to report orals date, etc.

PhD Students: Please use the FINAL ORAL EXAMINATION FORM-DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY to
report final orals date, etc.

July 25

Corrected paper copies of Thesis/Dissertation to the Graduate School. (Design/Research Paper
to Department for finalizing.)

Electronic copy of the Thesis/Dissertation to Graduate School.

PUBLISHING YOUR MASTER’S THESIS – completed form and materials and appropriate
payment due at the Graduate School.

PUBLISHING YOUR DISSERTATION and SURVEY OF EARNED DOCTORATES completed
forms and materials and appropriate payment due at the Graduate School.

August 6

Change of Grade forms for all INCOMPLETED AND IN-PROGRESS grades must be submitted to the Graduate School by the instructor/advisor. REMEMBER all previous semester Incompletes for Continual Thesis, Design Paper, and Dissertation registrations as well as completed Internships! Also registrations added late by petition. Degree certification
cannot take place unless EVERYTHING on the Plan of Study has been graded.

August 13                 

Grades for summer 2008 are due in the Registrar’s Office.


Fall 2008 - IMPORTANT DATES FOR GRADUATION CANDIDATES

September 19

Last day to submit a graduation application for fall 2008. Please submit this form only if you are reasonably sure that you will graduate fall semester. If the degree is not granted this fall, a new graduation application is needed for the new, upcoming semester. SPECIALIZATIONS: Remember to enter the specialization (or emphasis) on the application. 

WALK-THRU APPROVAL: If you have taken and passed all coursework on the approved Plan of Study AND if you plan to take your final oral exam by the date shown below , and you know that you still won’t graduate until SPRING, you may request permission to “walk thru” fall semester’s commencement. Complete a PERMISSION TO PARTICIPATE IN COMMENCEMENT form available in the Graduate School Office and submit it along with your Graduation Application for Spring. Deadline for submitting these forms to the Graduate School is November 4, 2008. Approval will depend on whether you have already completed all course work and have taken and passed your final oral exam.

October 22

Commencement Ceremonies: 10:00 a.m. in Frost Arena, HPER Center.
