Faculty Positions in the College of Pharmacy

DEAN

South Dakota State University, the State’s land grant institution with over 11,000 students on and off campus, invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean and Professor of the College of Pharmacy. Thirty-five faculty members serve approximately 270 Pharm.D. and graduate students enrolled in the College of Pharmacy. Opportunities exist for faculty and students to participate in masters and doctoral programs in both Pharmaceutical Sciences and Biological Sciences.
The Dean, as the chief administrative officer and academic leader of the College, reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Department Heads of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Sciences report to the Dean.
Required Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in a pharmacy/pharmaceutical science discipline or closely related area from an accredited institution; understanding of changes and trends in pharmacy education and practice; ability to interact effectively with other members of the academic community; a professional record in teaching and scholarship commensurate with the rank of professor; effective leadership, communication, interpersonal, motivation, and public relations skills; experience in administration and participatory personnel management; commitment to quality teaching and advising as college priorities; commitment to the principles of diversity, affirmative action and equal employment opportunity.
Desired Qualifications:
An entry level degree in pharmacy; has a RPh license and has practiced as a pharmacist; experience in budget preparation and management and securing external funding; knowledge of higher education issues and understanding of the land-grant mission; dedication to an active program of faculty development.
Salary: Negotiable and commensurate with qualifications.
Preferred Starting Date: January 1, 2009, but no later than July 1, 2009.

Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice

Pharmacy Administration Faculty Position

Applications are invited for a tenure-track, academic year appointment at the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor in the area of Pharmacy Administration in the Department of Pharmacy Practice.  Qualified applicants will have an earned Ph.D. in Pharmacy Administration or related area, or Pharm.D. with postgraduate training/education in closely related area. Candidates should possess effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, and have a strong dedication to superior and innovative teaching both in the professional degree and the graduate programs. The successful candidate will have the ability to develop, fund, and conduct an active research program. Preference will be given to candidates with a professional degree in pharmacy, as well as postdoctoral and prior teaching experience. Research collaborations with other members of the department, college and faculty of other departments in the University are strongly encouraged and supported by the college administration. Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is seeking faculty members for two tenure-track positions. An attractive start-up package is available.  Qualified applicants with an earned Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or a closely related area with teaching and research experience in molecular modeling, molecular biology, cell signaling, pharmacogenomics, pharmacokinetics or a related area with effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are invited to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to teach professional pharmacy courses (for B.S. and Pharm. D. degree) and graduate courses (for Ph.D. degree) in the area of expertise, as well as develop and maintain an active extramurally funded research program. Preference will be given to candidates in the area of cancer and neurobehavioral research with prior teaching and research experience in the relevant areas and a professional degree in Pharmacy.
