Areas of Research:  Transcriptional control of Immune response genes and Molecular Pathogenesis of HIV associated Lipidystrophy.
Current Research:
1.  Transciptional control of natural killer cell receptor expression.
2.  Molecular Pathogenesis of HIV associated Lipidystrophy.
3.  Analysis of cell/tissure specificity of an alternative promoter in the Chemokine receptor 3 (CCR3) gene.
4.  Design of surface modified dendrimers as carriers for gene delivery (co-investigator with Dr. Srinath Palakurthi).
5.  Molecular Genetics of Behavioral Disorders.
 
Chandradhar Dwivedi, PhD,
Areas of Research:  Cancer prevention and treatment, drugs of abuse and addiction, and neuropharmacology.
Current Research:
1.  Chemopreventive effects of flaxseed and canola products on colon cancer development.
2.  Chemopreventive effects of a- santalol on skin cancer development.
3.  Chemopreventive effects of sarcophine derivatives on skin cancer development (co-investigator with Dr. Hesham Fahmy).

Areas of Research:  Chemical modification of Natural Products and Synthesis of medicinally active compounds.
Current Research:
1.  Chemopreventive effects of sarcophine derivatives on skin cancer development.
2.  Synthesis of new benzofuran derivatives as anti-HIV agents.
3.  Synthesis of new pyrimidines and fused pyrimdines as corticotrophin releasing factor receptor anatagonists as possible antidepressants.

Xiangming Guan, PhD,
Areas of Research:  Development of novel antitumor agents, agents to reverse tumor resistance to chemotherapy and raditation therapy.
Current Research:
1.  Develop novel approach to combat cancer resistance to chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

1.  Nanoengineering of affibodies (syntheticantibodies) and genetic engineering of single chain antibodies (scFv) asguidingdomains for targeted delievery of bio- and pharmoco-therapeutics.
2.  Pharmaco-andbio-therapeutic suppression and overexpression of reactive oxygen species (ROS) manging molecules.
3.  In vivo molecular imaging of pharmacokinetics.
Current Research:
1.  Cancer suicide gene therapy (with Dr. Chandradhar Dwivedi).
2.  Cancer vaccines (bone marrow stem cell based) and cancer prevention (with Dr. Chandradhar Dwivedi).
3.  Immunotherapy of cancer - antiEGFRvIII guided antiROS in breast cancer.
4.  Gene therapy of cardiovascular disorders.

Srinath Palakurthi, PhD,
Areas of Research:  Design and development of novel drug delivery systems, antibody mediated drug targeting for various cancers and dermal vaccination.
Current Research:
1.  Development of a vaccine delivery system for ovarian cancer.
2.  Development of new dendrimers for biological applications (gene delivery).

Shafiqur Rahman, PhD
Areas of Research: Drug addiction, Preclinical drug development;
Neuropharmacology; Ethnopharmacology
Current Research:
1.  Brain nicotinic receptors as target for alcohol and nicotine addiction
2.  Development of new therapeutic targets for methampheamine neurotoxicity
3.  Pharmacological evaluation of novel compounds for major neuropsychiatric disorders
4.  Novel medication development for ethanol dependence.

Teresa Seefeldt, PharmD.
Areas of Research:  Cancer treatment, cancer resistance to chemotherapy and radiation.
Current Research:
1.  Glutathione reductase inhibition and tumor sensitivity to chemotherapy and radiation.
2.  Development of novel cell cycle active anticancer agents.
