INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS
Internship Programs are summer programs that provide an educational experience for nursing students. Several Internship Programs are taking applications for the Summer. Information about the different programs can be found online or available from Nursing Student Services in NFA 131.

Two New Additions:

Camp Kamaji for Girls
A residential summer camp for girls located in Northern Minnesota.  Each summer, 160 girls (ages 7-14) and 85 staff members come together to enjoy the magic of camping.
Qualifications include at least one of the following: RN, GN, LPN curremt 3rd or 4th year Nursing Student, EMT, Paramedic or PA. call 800/7KAMAJI or email Kathy@kamaji.com

offers a paid internship experience for you as a nursing student that is designed to build practical nursing skills and ultimately enhance your future career as a nurse. Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Professional Development Program (PDP) is a 10-week summer program designed for the student nurse who is two semesters or less away from graduation. Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, South Dakota is currently taking applications for the Summer Intern Program. This program is for Junior Nursing students. For additional information, call the Human Resources Department at 605/622-5258.

Camp Ramapo in Rhinebeck, NY offers RN's, LPN's, EMT's, and students a unique opporunity to work with troubled children in a dynamoc, involving, and caring environment.  Camp Ramapo serves children with a wide range of emotional and learning programs from preschool to age 16, and is associated with Rhinebeck Pediatric Associates and Northern Dutchess Hospital.  For more information, call, write or apply online: Camp Ramapo, P.O. Franciscan Skemp, Mayo Health System introduces a Student Nurse Internship:Transitions Program that starts in June. This program brings 10 nursing students on board to participate in a 10-week nurse internship program. Franciscan Skemp Healthcare, part of Mayo Health System, is a multi-speciality, integrated healthcare delivery system based in La Cross, WI. Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse, Wisconsin offers a Reality Summer Nursing Internship program. This is a 10-week educational internship program for nursing students who have completed their junior year of a baccalaureate nursing program. Immanuel St. Joseph's, Mayo Health System, Mankato, MN offers a summer nursing internship program for fourth year BSN students to participate in summer learning and work experience that provides a connection between education and real life practice in the hospital setting. The ten week internship begins in June. Part-time and full-time options are available. Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa has an eleven week internship program with free housing available to those not in the area. Brochures and applications available at Nursing Student Services in NFA 131.

The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota is taking applications for the Summer III for Junior Nursing students. This annual summer program begins in early June and lasts 10 weeks. Each summer, 150 students from throughout the United States take part in Summer III at Mayo Clinic. For additional information, visit their website.

MeritCare Health System in Fargo, ND is planning to employ Nurse Interns/Nurse Co-Op Students again during the summer of 2007.  You may apply on-line after October 1 at www.nurse.meritcare.comClick to view SDSU's Hyperlink Policy .  Applications must be received by Novermber 30, 2006.  For more infomation call (701) 280-4862.    

Parkland Health & Hospital System, Dallas, TX is offering a Critical Care and Trauma Nurse Internship conducted annually at Parkland Health & Hospital System.  It was established in 1974, and is the most established program in the country.  It offers rotations through five specialized ICU's and the Emergency Department, and an indepth, comprehensive classroom component as well.  Enrolled students can earn six hours of credits towards the Masters of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington, by completing the internship requirements. Rapid City Regional Hospital offers a 10-12 week clinical experience that allows the student nurse to further develop the art of nursing practice and promotes additional interaction with health care professionals. The Student Nurse Extern Program typically begins the first week of June. St. Michael's Hospital and Nursing Home in Tyndall, SD has a 10-12 week Student Nurse Intern position opening at St. Michael's Hospital and Nursing Home for the Summer months of 2007. St. Michael's Hospital and Nursing Home Student Nurse Intern Program gives nursing students the opportunity to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse preceptor. Applications are available in Nursing Student Services in NFA 131. Deadline for applications is November 15, 2006.

Department of Veterans Affairs, Sioux Falls, South Dakota has been funded for the VALOR (Verterans Affairs Learning Opportunity Residency) Program. This residency program is available to junior nursing students.
