Health Professionals Learning Community

The Health Professionals Learning Community provides students an opportunity to live, study, and develop friendships with students who share similar career goals in the various health-related fields. Students who live in the Health Professionals Learning Community benefit from social programming, academic programming, and shared classes.

Mathews Hall is home to the Health Professionals Learning Community and several other SDSU learning communities such as the Honors College and the Engineering House.

Who Can Join?
All incoming freshman who are interested in health-related majors such as Pre-nursing, Pre-pharmacy, Pre-professional (PA, PT, Medicine, Dental, etc.), and Health Promotion are eligible to join the Health Professionals Learning Community. Students will be enrolled into the learning community and since space is limited, members will be assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis.

What Are Learning Communities?
Learning Communities are groups of students with shared interests who live and learn together. A Learning Community provides a fun and supportive start to your college career at SDSU. Take advantage of this great opportunity to make the most of your freshman year at no additional cost!

Why Should I Join A Learning Community?
Students who join a Learning Community have an instant support group, which fosters academic and social success. Other benefits include:
1. Internet-equipped computers in your residence hall.
2. A nursing library in your residence hall.
3. Co-enrollment in classes for Fall and Spring semesters, including a one-credit, 8-week course - HSc 100: Seminar for Health Professionals.
4. Organized study groups.
5. People on your floor with similar interests.
6. A Learning Community Coordinator to serve as a campus resource.
7. A variety of social activities.
