Master of Science in Nursing

The Department of Graduate Nursing offers a Master of Science degree with a major in Nursing. The student may choose from five specializations: Family Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Educator, or Nurse Administrator. In addition, there are two post-master's certificate programs, Nurse Educator and Family Nurse Practitioner.
On the main campus in Brookings, students may complete the degree in five semesters of full time study, or part time in either three or four years. Part time study over four years is available in Sioux Falls and Rapid City.
The Internet degree program is available over four years at one course per semester. Students may take all of their course work from their home computers and have clinical preceptors close to home. A few trips to Brookings are required over the four years.
