Mission Statement
The mission of the Continuing Nursing Education Program is to provide educational opportunities for nurses in South Dakota and across the United States in an efficient and economic manner.
The Continuing Nursing Education Program is organized within the College of Nursing at South Dakota State University. The program develops and provides a variety of statewide services to health personnel by offering continuing education and nurse refresher courses in response to needs and requests.
One of the purposes of South Dakota State University is "to promote and conduct extension education programs for youth and adults in South Dakota." The role of the University emcompasses the areas of teaching, research, and service. The opportunities offered through the College of Nursing, Continuing Nursing Education Program, make a unique contribution in each of these areas.
The Continuing Nursing Education Program was established by the College of Nursing in 1966 to carry out the mission of providing education services. It functions within the College of Nursing and South Dakota State University to provide statewide education services to health personnel.
