I completed my PhD in Nursing at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. My Masters is in Community Health Nursing from the U of Portland, and my BSN from the University of Utah. My background as a certified community health nurse was primarily in rural counties in Utah and Northern California, and more currently with American Indian women in the Rapid City area. My research interest is improving the health of rural and diverse populations; in particular, breast screening health behavior, and breast cancer screening interventions. I love specializing in being a nurse generalist-which public health nursing allows you to do.
My focus of teaching is in our Undergraduate, RN Upward Mobility, and PhD Nursing Programs; Nurs 355 Nursing Research , Nurs 310 Introduction to Population Based Nursing; Nurs 416 Community Health Nursing, Nurs 385 Health Assessment and Clinical Decision Making, Nurs 840 Health Promotion Theory and Research with Rural and Underserved Populations.
