I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1982 from the American University of Beirut, and Master of Science in Industrial Management in 2003 from South Dakota State University.  In 2007, I received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biological Sciences and a Master of Science in Nursing from South Dakota State University.  The emphasis of my doctorate study was Human Nutrition with a focus on the influence of lifestyle and psychosocial factors on bone mass and size in preterm, near-term, and full term children.

My areas of interest include nursing leadership, management, and health promotion.  I am currently involved with the March of dimes Board of Directors; Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses; Midwest Nursing Research Society, and Phi Kappa Phi honor society.

Teaching responsibilities include NURS 760, NURS 425Lab, NURS 495, and NURS 425.  Current research activities include conducting a pilot study to determine the accuracy of two surveys that measure certain aspects of childrearing practices in parents of preterm born children.
