I completed my Masters in Nursing in 2005 from South Dakota State University and my Bachelors degree in Nursing from Mankato State University in 1983. My previous bedside nursing experience has focused on critical care nursing.
Currently, I serve as an undergraduate instructor in both the classroom and clinical settings with a focus on medical-surgical and critical care nursing. I have also been involved in teaching medical-surgical nursing in the accelerated nursing program in Sioux Falls. Memberships and affiliations include the local and national chapters of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau, and the South Dakota Nurses Association.
I have been active in instituting concept mapping into the clinical setting within the nursing program at South Dakota State University. I have developed and posted an on-line tutorial as a guide to concept mapping that is accessible to nurses and students worldwide. I am involved in working with Sim Man to incorporate simulation as a learning tool into the nursing program.
