I completed my Doctorate of Education in 1997 and Master of Science in Nursing in 1993, both from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. The topic of my thesis and dissertation resulted in the publication of two textbooks on the subject of Dimensional Analysis as a medication problem solving method for healthcare professionals.
Currently, I serve as an online educator with teaching responsibilities in nursing education, cultural competence, leadership and management, and research design. I have been a clinical instructor in adult and pediatric medical-surgical and oncology nursing throughout my nursing career. Memberships and affiliations include the Transcultural Nursing Society, Sigma Theta Tau, Phi Kappa Phi, American Nurses Association, and the South Dakota and Texas Nursing Associations.
I am viewed as a leader/pioneer in technology at South Dakota State University, serving on numerous committees and boards related to the use of technology for teaching online and in the classroom including the use of laptop computers in the classroom.
