About the College

South Dakota State University College of Nursing is dedicated to excellence in nursing education through an educational milieu guided by high ideals, lifelong learning, a pursuit of knowledge and discovery, and high standards of caring for individuals, families, and communities.

South Dakota State University provides a state-of-the-art nursing program that prepares you for the diversity needed to practice as a beginning practitioner in metropolitan medical centers as well as in rural communities. Today's health care system requires nurses who are knowledgable, effective, and caring.

As the United States becomes increasingly diverse in its culture, nurses need to understand and meet the needs of individuals in differing health care delivery systems. Nursing students are provided the opportunity to visit Sweden to study the nursing and health care delivery system in that country.
