Minor in Gerontology
Description: The gerontology minor prepares graduates to work directly with or on behalf of older adults by drawing on coursework from multiple disciplines and collaborating with practitioners in aging-related professions. Students may complete the 18-credit gerontology minor entirely online or with a combination of on-campus and online classes.
Required: *GERO 201: Introduction to Gerontology (3 credits)
8 credits selected from the following "Level One" courses (which have an aging emphasis):
*BIO 425: Biology of Aging
CA 442: Family Resource Management
*GERO 492: Current Topics in Gerontology (Intergenerational Issues)
*HDFS 347: Human Development III: Adulthood
*NURS 201: Medical Terminology
*PSYC 325: Psychology of Aging
An additional 7 credits from courses which address aging or discuss the physical or social context of people (For most students, these credit requirements are met by completing university-required core courses and/or credits required to complete majors).
