Scholarships

The College of Engineering supports many of its students with scholarships. Individual departments within the College of Engineering also offer their own department-specific scholarships, which have their own application and review process.  Therefore, in addition to applying for College of Engineering scholarships, please also consult your major department for more information on scholarship opportunitues.

The Academic Scholarship Application for the 2007 - 2008 academic year will be available starting January 22, 2007.  You may reach this application by logging into
http://mystateonline.sdstate.edu/, clicking on the Financial tab, then clicking the 2007 - 2008 Scholarship Application channel.  The financial tab will appear on http://mystateonline.sdstate.edu/ no later than January 22, 2007.

OPEN SCHOLARSHIP LIST

James H. Barnett Scholarship ($500)
The recipient of the James H. Barnett Scholarship shall be junior or senior student majoring in Physics or Electrical Engineering.  Selection will be based on good academic standing and financial need.

Black Hills Corporation Scholarship ($685)
Recipient of the Black Hills Corporation Scholarship must be enrolled in the College of Engineering—preference given to EE majors and residents of the Black Hills Area.

E. L. Buckley Memorial Scholarship ($1100)
Preference is given to engineering students who have excelled in leadership role in the Joint Engineering Council, Phonathon, etc. and/or professional societies.

K. Marvin Bue Engineering Scholarship (6 @ $800)
The scholarship is open to all students enrolled in the College of Engineering at SDSU.

Crothers Engineering Scholarship ($900)
Recipient must be major in engineering.

Daktronics, Inc. Native American Scholarship (2 @ $500)
Qualified students shall be tribally enrolled with a declared major in the College of Engineering.

Everett Dunn Scholarship (2 @ $750)
The recipient must be a student majoring in the College of Engineering.

Errol EerNisse Scholarship (2 @ $1,100)
Awarded to junior or senior students who are majoring in any of the engineering disciplines. Students should be selected for academic merit with preference given to applicants majoring in an engineering subject of current interest to the employment marketplace in the Upper Midwest.

William and Deda Rae Gamble Scholarship ($1,000)
The recipient must be a full-time engineering student.

Harold Hall & LaVon Doner Hall Scholarship (3 @ $800)
The recipient is selected based on student’s talent, student’s financial need and major—first priority to computer science, second to physics or mathematics and third priority to any other engineering major.

Phillis C. Hanskutt Scholarship ($1500)
Preference given to sophomore Electrical Engineering student from SD with financial need.

Kenneth Hayter Scholarship ($550)
Preference given to engineering students who are juniors or seniors and who have been working for the SDSU Physical Plant and who show interest in this type of work.

Leroy Herther Scholarship ($100)
Recipient must be a junior or senior student in the College of Engineering.

Burton & Gladys Horsted Scholarship ($550)
Awarded to junior and senior engineering majors from SD or MN with 2.75 or above GPA.

Eugene B. Hunt Scholarship in Engineering ($1,100)
Consideration for the scholarship is restricted to SD high school graduates who have registered in a College of Engineering major.

James & Martha Keen Scholarship ($350)
Must be majoring in engineering.

Douglas F & Janet R. Martin Scholarship ($1,900)
Any major in College of Engineering with financial need and GPA of 3.0 (or 2.5 if employed > 20 hours per week), leadership qualities through school/community or work and prefer SD resident who is employed in order to attend college.

Wilton McKown Scholarship (2 @ $800)
Selection is based on academic achievement—cannot be students who hold an athletic scholarship.

P&M Steel—Profilet Family Scholarship (2 @ $500)
Sophomore and above in any major in the College of Engineering with 3.0 GPA. SD high school graduate and resident. Involvement in extra curricular activities desirable.

Raven Industries, Inc. Scholarship ($925)
Awarded to junior or senior majoring in AE, EE or ME with minimum of 3.0 GPA exhibiting leadership qualities, professional potential and academic talent. Preference given to SD native.

Ron R. Reed Memorial Scholarship ($500)
Awarded to senior in college possessing a minimum 3.2 GPA. Applicants include essay on addressing economic development and overall enhancement of SD—include resume highlighting the applicants college and community activities.

Brede & Siri Sander Family Scholarship ($800)
Awarded to Native American students from South Dakota. Recipients may be in any class, freshman through senior and in any engineering curriculum.

Halvor C. Solberg (3 @ $750)
Awarded to junior or senior with high academic performance and leadership potential majoring in CM, ME, CE with first preference being given to a SD native.

SD Chapter of ASHRAE Scholarship ($500)
Awarded to senior in College of Engineering who is a member of the SDSU Chapter of ASHRAE.

SD Engineering Society NE Chapter Scholarship (2 @ $500)
Selection is based on academic achievement. The recipient must be a resident of that region of SD represented by the NE Chapter of the SDES.

Col. Martin & Irene Taylor Scholarship (2 @ $1,100)
Recipients shall be women who are students in Math or Engineering. They shall be in at least their second year of college and selection will be based on scholastic ability, outside activities and financial need.

Robert Wilkens Endowment Scholarship ($500)
The recipient shall be a resident of SD, with preference towards students from the Huron area, must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and have demonstrated leadership qualities through school or community activities.

XCEL Energy ($1,000)
Recipient should be a student in the mathematics, science, technical or environmental areas, particularly in the areas of business and energy-related sciences within the College of Engineering. The student must be in good standing within the university.
