Department Visits Once each year a member of our staff tries to visit each county highway department. This gives you a chance to discuss your problems one-on-one with someone from SDLTAP. If our staff member does not have an answer for you on the spot, he can bring your concerns to the attention of the rest of the staff, or outside experts who may be able to help you. Often during a department visit our staff member discovers techniques, machinery, or ideas that your department has developed to solve specific problems. Then we try to help you get this information out to other departments that might be facing a similar problem. In this way, each department does not have to “reinvent the wheel.”
