About Us

Mission
The Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) is a nationwide effort financed jointly by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and state/local organizations. Its purpose is to translate into understandable terms the latest state-of-the-art technologies in the areas of roads, bridges, and public transportation to local government personnel.

The South Dakota Local Transportation Assistance Program (SDLTAP) is sponsored by the South Dakota Department of Transportation, South Dakota State University, and the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. SDLTAP provides information and technical assistance to all counties, municipalities, townships, and all cities in South Dakota. SDLTAP is established to link transportation technology and local government and to keep local government officials informed about new publications, techniques, and training opportunities that may be helpful to them and their community.
