Civil and Environmental Engineering - Prospective Undergraduate Students
|
The SDSU Civil Engineering program provides a rigorous education designed to serve the student over their entire career. The first two years emphasize basic science and mathematics, humanities, and engineering science with an introduction to engineering issues. The third and fourth years stress engineering analysis and design. Students are engaged in design work throughout all their engineering courses with a culminating two-semester design experience their senior year. The Civil Engineering curriculum emphasizes laboratory instruction with significant team-work efforts and oral and written communication of results.
Student activities are a high priority of our students, with most students belonging to the Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Our students partake in concrete canoe and steel bridge competetions, attend professional meetings, visit elementary and high schools to talk about engineering, get involved with community programs, tutor beginning students, and organize social events. The SDSU Student Chapter is one of the best in the United States, and was recognized as the top Student Chapter in the nation in the year 2004.
