THE DEPARTMENT OF VISUAL ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 2007 - 2008 (See application form below)
General Information
- Only Art Majors (Art Education, Painting/Printmaking, Ceramics/Sculpture, or General Art) and Graphic Design Majors who have completed at least one semester as a declared major in the Department of Visual Arts (or a declared double major) are eligible to apply for these Department of Visual Arts Scholarships.
- Some scholarships are designated for specific majors and have grade point average minimums. (See Criteria listings below.)
- Students with a Minor in Visual Arts are not eligible.
- A portfolio of applicable studio art or design work must accompany the application. Up to 15 pieces of the students best original art or design work can be submitted. All areas of art and design, including the departments Visual Arts Core courses are acceptable. If for some reason an original work is not available, a slide or photograph can be substituted. Consult with your advisor in regards to what should be included in your application.
- Note that some scholarships or award applications require letters of reference, or, a resume.
· Applications are due in March/April of each year and are announced at the opening of the annual Juried Student Exhibition. Deadline for applications, April 3 - 5, 2007. This years scholarship recipients will be publicly announced on April 27 at 1:30 p.m. in The Ritz Gallery.
· The scholarships portfolios are adjudicated by the Visual Arts Department faculty as a whole. The dollars awarded can range from $50 to $1,000 or more.
