Professor Baggett received her B. A., (license) at the Université de Clermont-Ferrand, France. She received her M. A. from the University of California, Irvine 1989, and her doctorate at the University of California, Irvine in 1996. She teaches all levels of the French language, Francophone literatures and cultures. Dr. Baggett is also teaching courses with USD, Vermillion, SD and Northern State University, Aberdeen, SD through distance education. She advises the French Majors and is also the French Club Advisor. She organizes and leads Study Abroad trips to France for SDSU students of French.
Her general research area lies in the definition and formation of nationhood in late nineteenth and twentieth-century narratives. She is particularly interested in contemporary interpretations of “Frenchness” in Caribbean and “Beur” literatures and films. She belongs to several organizations and works on the Global Planning Committee. Dr. Baggett also provides translation services for the community.
