Professor Getz teaches the basic core of news writing and reporting classes. He has the lecture and two sections of Newswriting and Reporting (MCom210) and Public Affairs Reporting (MCom 316). In addition, he supervises the internship program, which includes presenting a series of classes on internship preparation, setting up interviews on campus, counseling, visiting interns and employers at the site, and grading stringbooks and reports.


He holds a doctor of education degree from the University of South Dakota, where his dissertation focused on students' perceptions of the value of their journalism internships.
