Newton is professor-administrator emeritus at NAU

Ray Newton (M.S. 1961) has been retired for five years after 27 years as a professor and administrator at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. Newton remains active in the field as a communication consultant for institutions of higher education.


Olson working for casino trade journal

Cal Olson (News Editorial 1997) joined the staff of Casino Enterprise Management in May 2005. Casino Enterprise Management is the fastest-growing trade journal in the casino industry. The journal is geared toward casino executives, game manufacturers, security, human resources, tribal officials and others in the industry.


Olson named assistant news editor for Florida newspaper group

Stephanie Olson (News Editorial 1998) has been promoted from wire editor/weekend copy desk leader to assistant news editor for Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers in Stuart, Fla. The company produces four daily and two weekly newspapers in southeast Florida.



Osterberg managing Chex Cereal advertising account

Kristen Osterberg (Advertising 2005) is an assistant account executive with the Campbell Mithun advertising agency. She was recently assigned the duty of managing the account of the Chex Cereal brand.


Paulson is Director of Member Events and Relations for the RNC

Angel Paulson (1998, Advertising) serves as the Director of Member Events and Relations for the Republican National Committee in Washington, DC. Prior to joining the Committee, Angel worked on the Bush-Cheney '04 campaign. She is a native of Clark, SD.


Roesler is the New Media Sales Assistant for the Argus Leader

John Roesler graduated in May 2005 with a Journalism degree. He is currently the New Media Sales Assistant at the Argus Leader. He joined the newspaper staff in October. Roesler is also the primary sales representative for the new quarterly Pet Magazine. When assisting his co-workers he works with ads on publications such as the HomeFront magazine, Sioux Falls Business Journal, LiVe magazine and CityStyle magazine. On a side note, John recently received Team Player of the Month for November, which is an honor that only one person in Argus Advertising receives each month.


Jason and Cyndi (Kooiman) Priest return to Minneapolis

Jason (1992, Journalism) and Cyndi (1992, Business) recently returned to Minneapolis after five years in the San Francisco Bay area. During that time, Jason completed his MBA at UC-Berkeley while working for Intel as a Retail Marketing Program Manager. He continues to work for Intel calling on their largest retail customer, Best Buy, in a sales and marketing role. Cyndi is currently staying at home with their two sons, Carter (4) and Gavyn (6).


Wanda Romkema writing for Sioux Falls agency

Wanda Romkema (2004, Advertising) is a copywriter for Insight Marketing Design, a fully integrated advertising agency in Sioux Falls. Wanda has been with the agency since her graduation in May of 2004. As the primary writer for the agency, Wanda writes for a variety of clients, ranging from pizza and facials to healthcare and banking.


Royston accepts reporting position at the Mitchell Daily Republic

Wendy (McBrayer) Royston has accepted a position as City Reporter for the Mitchell Daily Republic. Royston is a Spring 2005 news editorial graduate.


Ruthenbeck's novel to be published in September 2005

Schultze joins UNI marketing and public relations

Rebecca Schultze (Advertising 2003) has joined the Marketing and Public Relations Department at the University of Northern Iowa, located in Cedar Falls, as a public relations specialist. While at SDSU, Schultze interned at the Mobridge Tribune and the Argus Leader. After graduation, she worked at the Iowa City Press Citizen.


Schmidt is an account executive for Aerial Company, Inc.

Abby Schmidt (2004, Advertising) is an account executive for Aerial Company, Inc. Based out of Sioux Falls, Abby serves as a business consultant for 230 salons across South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota.


Seefeldt is an associate editor for WebMD

Nicole Seefeldt (1999, Broadcast Journalism) is an associate editor for Medscape, the health professional portal of WebMD, a job she has held for more than two years. Her position at Medscape is a natural blending of her educational background - her prior studies in health care and her degree in Journalism. In her free time, Nicole volunteers for the TS Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding a cure for Tuberous Sclerosis, a genetic disorder that causes benign tumors to form on vital organs such as the skin, lungs, brain, and kidneys. Nicole has Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC). For the past few years she has served as chair of the Adult Advisory Committee, a group that develops resources and supports adults with TSC. As part of her chairmanship, she has a quarterly column in Perspective, the TS Alliance's print newsletter. In July 2006, she will start a three year term on the Board of Directors and will serve as chair of the Adult Issues Committee, a committee that deals with many larger issues facing adults with TSC at all levels of involvement. She has spoken at several TS Alliance events about her life with the disease and goes to Congress yearly to advocate for more research funding. She also received a "Volunteer of the Year" award in 2005 from the organization.
