A limited number of graduate assistantships are awarded each year through the HPER department. To receive an assistantship in the department, a student must be pursuing a Master of Science degree in HPER. To qualify for an assistantship, the candidate must meet the following criteria.
1) Undergraduate major in exercise science, health promotion, physical education, or related field from an accredited college or university.
2) Grade point average of at least 2.75 (4.0 scale) either accumulative or junior/senior average is required for Graduate School, however individuals seeking an assistantship are required to have a minimum GPA of 3.00 (either accumulative or jr/sr average).
The goal of the HPER department is to have graduate assistant salaries that are competitive, equitable within a college, and not less than a designated University minimum. All graduate assistants receive in-state tuition rates with two-thirds of tuition waived.
