Fred OienDr. Fred Oien

Ed.D. (
University of Massachusetts-Amherst),M.S. (South Dakota State University), B.S. (South Dakota State University).  Dr. Oien currently  serves as Department Head of  the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation -  providing leadership in the program majors of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, Athletic Training, Public Recreation, Health Promotion; in the program minors of Physical Education, Health Education, Public Recreation; in the Master's of Science program in Health, Physical Education and Recreation; in the pre-professional programs of Occupational and Physical Therapy; and in the concentration area of coaching certification.

Dr. Oien also serves as the Director of Athletics with the responsibility to provide leadership for 20 intercollegiate sport programs; athletic fund raising and promotion; facility development; intramurals and sport clubs; SDSU Wellness Center; conference and national membership; and staffing.
