Geospatial Sciences and Engineering Ph.D.

An interdisciplinary Ph.D. is offered with an emphasis in Geography Remote Sensing or Engineering Remote Sensing. 

The Geographic Information Systems Laboratory houses 16 Intel Pentium 2.8 GHz Dell workstations using Windows 2000 Pro, equipped with ERDAS 8.4, ARC/INFO 8.02, ARC GIS 8.1, IDRISI, and a variety of data processing and programming applications. These computers are networked using a UNIX platform. Additional hardware includes digitizing tables, laser printers, color-jet laser printers, scanners and plotters.

Internships at the undergraduate level and graduate level are generally available with the EROS Data Center, planning agencies at the state, regional, county, and city level, governmental agencies, and business and industry.


Course Requirements
A minimum of 35 semester credit hours in geography are required for the bachelor of science degrees. Required courses for both majors are listed below, with additional required courses for the Geographic Information Sciences major. Open Undergraduate Curriculum for complete listings of requirements.
