The English department offers both the B.A. and the M.A. in English. Students can also minor in English. The department has approximately 100 English majors and 20 graduate students. The department is small enough for faculty and students to know one another; our classes are of a size that allows much individual attention. At the same time, the department is large enough to allow us to have specialists in all important areas of English and American literature.
The department sponsors the English Club, a student activity group for students in English, and Sigma Tau Delta, an English honorary society. Oakwood, a small literary magazine, is annually written and edited by students.
The English Department also sponsors many activities on campus, such as the Great Plains Writers' Conference and the Consider the Century Conference.
