Dr. Flynn received her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1985. Her dissertation is on the philosophy of love in Shelley’s poetry and prose. She has been at South Dakota State since 1990. Her research interests are primarily in nineteenth-century English poetry; her two great loves are Shelley and Hopkins. She has presented papers on Blake, Shelley, Keats, Browning, Dickens, and Hopkins. Dr. Flynn is a strong supporter of the European Studies emphasis, and has designed and taught courses in that program.
