2006 Summer REU in Chemistry
The SDSU Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is funded by NSF for an REU chemistry site program. Undergraduate students with interests in chemistry and biochemistry can participate in exciting research at SDSU and receive financial support for ten weeks this summer. They will be working with faculty on research projects in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, environmental chemistry, natural products/organic chemistry, and physical chemistry.

Program Dates: *Application Deadline: March 31, 2006 *Summer Research: June 5, 2006 - August 11, 2006
REU Eligibility: *Both SDSU and non-SDSU students are eligible. *Applicants must have completed at least 8 credit hours of chemistry course work and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 in chemistry and other natural science course. *Students finishing their junior year of college are preferred; outstanding sophomores and seniors are also considered. *Women, minority, and first generation college students are strongly encouraged to apply.
Program Highlights: *Chemistry and biochemistry research *Projects in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, environmental chemistry, organic/natural products chemistry and physical chemistry *Small research groups - work alongside faculty and graduate students *Orientation program and hands-on training in research skills *$3400 stipend provided plus travel expenses and housing subsidy *Support to attend professional meetings and publish papers *Opportunity to continue in 2007
