Professor and Interim Department Head
Evert Van der Sluis is a Professor in the Economics Department. He received a B.S.-equivalent in Animal Science and Social Economics from the Hogere Landbouwschool in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands; a M.Sc. degree in Agricultural Economics from Iowa State University; and a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from the University of Minnesota. Prior to joining SDSU in 1997, he was a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He conducts research on the economics of value-added agriculture, rural economics issues, and the economics of biotechnology. He teaches courses in International Economics, and Farming and Food Systems Economics.
